GitHub Copilot
GitHub Copilot is the most widely adopted AI pair programmer, offering inline code completions, contextual chat, and an autonomous coding agent deeply integrated with GitHub and popular IDEs. It draws on your repository context to suggest relevant code, review changes, and even complete entire tasks from issues.

Our Verdict
GitHub Copilot is the lowest-friction way to add AI to an existing workflow: it lives inside the editor you already use, needs zero configuration, and its autocomplete is still the most polished on the market. The chat and coding-agent features have closed much of the gap with newer rivals, and the free tier makes trying it a no-brainer. Power users who want deep autonomous refactoring will outgrow it and reach for a dedicated agent, but as the default assistant for a whole team it is very hard to argue against.
